• Testing of fitness and environmental sensitivity (e.g. multiplication, dormancy, survivability, dispersal, outcrossing ability, stress tolerance, and sensitivity to specific agents)
• Analysis of the phenotypic stability
• Production of material for the comparative assessment of GM and non-GM plants
• Analysis of agronomic traits, including common breeding parameters
• Testing of altered sensitivity to, or tolerance of, climatic conditions
• Analysis of altered sensitivity to, or tolerance of, abiotic fractions of soil (e.g. salinity, mineral nutrients, mineral toxins)

Methods:

• Release trials with GMOs (Part B and C of the Council Directive 2001/18/EC)
• Greenhouse trials under defined biotic and abiotic conditions
